Nemo going crazy in Mint 15 Cinnamon

For some reason, nemo has just started greatly increasing its activity, utilizing 85%+ of both cores on my dual core Intel processor. This just started happening this morning (July 21, 2013.) I'm using Linux Mint 15 Cinnamon and have applied all updates.

At times nemo is no longer as active, but then the cinnamon process is very active and also at high CPU utilization.

I am getting this as well.

regularly noticeable. especially noticeable when watching videos in VLC. didn't happen with mint 14.

i had nemo open earlier as i moved some files from a memory stick to a folder on the HD to free up space on the stick, the folder with the files on the HD was left open as soon as I closed this folder the nemo process stop consuming CPU.
