Bug Description

bug started with linux mint 15 olivia cinnamon 32bit
After suspend, the fan speed is set to max, but no reason to do so (CPU use < 10%).
I can stop the max speed by restarting the laptob (hp6730b).

Core 1: +33.0°C (high = +105.0°C, crit = +105.0°C)

result of "sensors" during the problem :

acpitz-virtual-0
Adapter: Virtual device
temp1: +34.0°C (crit = +256.0°C)
temp2: +41.0°C (crit = +110.0°C)
temp3: +40.0°C (crit = +105.0°C)
temp4: +20.0°C (crit = +110.0°C)
temp5: +96.0°C (crit = +110.0°C)

coretemp-isa-0000
Adapter: ISA adapter
Core 0: +36.0°C (high = +105.0°C, crit = +105.0°C)
Core 1: +36.0°C (high = +105.0°C, crit = +105.0°C)

We can see that "temp5" is stuck on something not normal...

The kernel driver was apparently giving wrong temperature...

I have the same problem in my asus n56vz using mint 14 and mint 15 from the kernel 3.5 until the 3.8

In my case sometimes in the booting the fan speed is start working at the full speed with out sense, I check the temperature with the acpi module and is 35 grades...BUT and this is important thing...when this problem happend the battery of my laptop stop charging and I have to remove the battery and connect again to work again.

is very rare.

I have exactly the same problem described by Martín Acosta (tinchoz49).
I have Asus X301A, Linux Mint Olivia.
Sometimes after suspend the fan runs at max speed, the battery is not charging, and battery led blinking.
I couldn't find any regularity/dependance.
