Bug Description

I successfully installed Linux Mint 15 release candidate today. On opening Synaptic I noticed that the was an upgrdade available for linux-image-3.8.0-19. I installed the upgrade and rebooted the system.
The system failed to boot and I got a number og error messages, finishing with
'kernel panic - not syncing'
'VFS unable to mount - rot fs on - block (0,0)'

I managed to recover Mint 15 using 'Super Grub 2' CD. I then installed grub-customizer and it showed that mint was tring to boot with grub running linux-image 3.8.0-19-generic.efi-signed. I used grub customizer to remove 3.8.0-19-generic.efi-signed and selected the non efi version from the customizer options. I removed the 'Super Grub 2' CD and rebooted. This time Linuc Mint 15 successfully booted.

The problem sems to be caused by the latest version of linux-image-3.8.0-19

BTW when the problem occurs:

1. I am booting in BIOS mode, not EFI mode

2. Secure boot is disabled

...so the release note suggestions do not help me.
