Linux Mint 13(Maya) Cinnamon 64-Bit on an AMD 64 bit PC
The error occurred after a normal notified update containing the following packages:

The error is repeatable.
The avconv command is:
avconv -i <input file> -async 1200 \

The source video file is an AVI with the following properties:
