Small SVG images don't render in Nemo.

Bug Description
In LinuxMint 14 Cinnamon 64 bit,
SVG images with small canonical sizes (i.e. the page size as set in Inkscape) sometimes don't display images.
This problem shows up in both Nemo, and in the file choser.
The boundary size for this problem appears to be somewhere around 16 pixels (.16")
The reason why I'm specifying small image sizes for these files is that they're meant to be bulllet glyphs in Libre Office. If I specify them bigger, then a user has to resize them when choosing them.
Unfortunately, when no glyph is shown in preview, it makes it very hard to choose an icon in the file chooser.
GIF images of the same size display properly.
Some SVG images display properly, others don't
