LM13/14 MATE 32 & 64 bit recovery mode stalls

Bug Description
system:
AMD 64 CPU
Asus K8N motherboard
1G RAM, tested
hard drive has no errors
proper DVD burn iso, md5 check
grub2 installed from Mint.
problem.
all boot recovery modes all stall after checking mounts, leave no error messages.
happens with LM13 32 bit, LM13 64bit, LM14 64 bit.
on the rare occassion during recovery mode it will stall and display
broken pipe
after I use ctrl-alt-delete

I, too, have the same problem. Only seems to continue to the "hit Control-D of type password to enter maintenance" prompt after doing a ctrl-alt-del but by then the system just reboots.
