Cinnamon panel text has weird artifacts

Cinnamon version 1.6.7+nadia, using nouveau driver on nvidia 250GTS

hi, having the same trouble, i dont know why, but after some time this is happening to me, see attached image. Whole panel is useless with this. :(

Using Mint Cinnamon 15 Olivia (x86-64) cinnamon 1.8.8, nvidia on nouveau driver 1:1.7.0-0ubuntu1

I am having the same trouble. Linux Mint 17.1 64Bit and fully updated as of 12/22/2014.

What was linked above has temporarily fixed the issue. (Alt+F2 and run the "r" command). Works for me until we can figure out what the issue is.

Graphics Card: AMD/ATI RV516 [Radeon X1300/X1550 Series]
                           configuration: driver=radeon
