gnome-terminal not installed when adding cinnamon to mate

Bug Description
Running Mate 32-bit on my wife's HP netbook. Wanted to add Cinnamon desktop as a session choice, so I went into Software Manager, selected Cinnamon, as well as the mint-meta-cinnamon and cinnamon artwork choices. Logged off and back in, and when I tried opening a terminal through ctrl+alt+T, it popped up saying that gnome-terminal could not be found/was not installed. I did a menu search for terminal, and NO terminals (gnome-terminal or the x-terminals) were installed. A simple gnome-terminal install through Software Manager took care of it, but shouldn't this be an automatic part of the base package?

I have the same issue as well. With all due respect, why is this categorized as "Opinion"? Is a terminal app not considered an essential component of a user environment?
