1) Release: 13 (maya) - Edition: Cinnamon 64-bit
2)
3) no menu or desktop symbol/icon for ding_1.7-1ubuntu1_all.deb
"dpkg -L ding" shows there is a "/usr/share/doc/ding/examples/ding.desktop" but none where it should be, at "/home/USER/.local/share/applications/ding.desktop" or "/usr/share/applications/ding.desktop"
also, some of the information provided inside ding.desktop is wrong, especially the part about the icon:

Icon=ding.png
...
there comes no "ding.png" with the package "ding_1.7-1ubuntu1_all.deb", but a "dbook.xpm" and "mini-dbook.xpm"
4) - the ding.desktop should get copied to the right place (/usr/share/applications/ding.desktop) after package installation
- the information inside ding.desktop should point to the right icon
