Bug Description

At irregular times, once or twice a day, the x-server suddenly restarts.
This error only occurs when my laptop operates on 1 screen (sofar). When using xinerama and dual screens the error did not occur.

Log message:

Jul 8 19:15:28 RvS-Laptop mdm[5617]: WARNING: mdm_slave_xioerror_handler: Fatal X error - Restarting :0

The error message is always the same.

Info:
i7, 8GB, NVidia 285M laptop
Mint Maya 64, cinnamon.

I have the same problem as well on LM13 cinnamon 64-bit. Same log.
The only solution I get is to disable the nvidia propietary drivers. Now I work without graphic card.

I changed to the GNome interface. It might help as long as this isn't fixed.

Unfortunately, I was forwarded here for the same problem, and have been using Gnome all along....so obviously gnome is not immune to this problem

@Nadroi,

Upgrading the NVidia drivers to 3.02 and later to 3.04 solved this problem. Cinnamon still has some 'special effects' but these are not as critical.
