No applications found in file manager preferences

To reproduce

Open File Manager, Edit, Preferences, Media tab, select "blank cd" or "blank dvd" "No Applications Found" greyed out. Brasero is installed and able to burn CD/DVD when opened manually.

Have tried adding

x-content/blank-dvd=brasero-open-image.desktop;
x-content/blank-cd=brasero-open-image.desktop;

to
 .local/share/applications/mimeapps.list
makes no difference

Able to reproduce in Linux Mint 14 Nadia with MATE DE

Opened File Manager> Edit> Preferences> Media tab, selected both "blank CD disc" and "blank DVD disc" - Action field is greyed out, states "No Applications Found." Confirm that Brasero installed and burns CDs and DVDs.

Suggested workaround above was successful:

Added
x-content/blank-cd=brasero.desktop
x-content/blank-dvd=brasero.desktop
to
/home/[USER]/.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list

I am new to Linux. [roman] is my username. I opened a terminal & typed:

cd /home/roman/.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list

I got the response:

bash: /home/roman/.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list: Permission denied

Can you help me out?

Well I figured out how to edit the mimeapps.list & aded the following 2 lines since I am using k3b instead of brasero:

x-content/blank-cd=k3b.desktop;
x-content/blank-dvd=k3b.desktop;

I still get an error msg when I insert a blank DVD-R That says:

Unable to mount Blank DVD-R Disc
Location is already mounted

Any ideas?

Sorry I forgot to mention that I am running Linux Mint 14.1 with the Mate desktop.
