Bug Description

My system is core 2 duo T5470 1.6ghz, Intel 965 graphics card, 3gb RAM

First time installing linux. I installed LM 13 64bit with Cinnamon. Sort of randomly (but I tend to have a bunch of windows open) the screen goes completely black, and I have to long press to reboot. I switched to MATE and thus far have not experienced this issue.

Hi. I am experiencing a similar sounding problem.

My system is 2x Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU T2310 @ 1.46GHz, 2GB RAM, and the same Graphics card - Intel 965GM.

Occasionally the system will crash to back screen. The cursor is still visible, and can be moved. It also apears to be "active" - for example if the screen crashes whilst I am in a document, the curosr will swap to the "text" mode if i hover over text.
I cannot identify a pattern for the crashes. I have caused the system to crash on occasion on the log in screen by clicking "actions" then cancel.

Thanks

I got what seemed to be a similar problem.

Cinnamon crash or even restart itself under different conditions I am experiencing.
Black screen when come out of lockscreen, or black screen after using opengl full screen apps. or restarts always when after you install wine and access the mint menu

.. as Wonghow comments, I get this when I get out of the screen-turned-off mode.
