damn it talk about n00b mistake lol, yes apparently it wasn't pulled in with other installs, installed it and works fine now, thanks n sorry to waste time
I think we should add better error-checking for xdg-utils. I don't think we should add a build dependency since it's not required to build the program, but probably we should show up an error dialog instead of just writing to stderr as we do now.
