Not sure if this is related but after messing around with /etc/resolv.conf and refreshing the internet adapters (which also reset the resolv.conf) after attempting to install updates (sudo apt-get upgrade) I got this error;
E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'sudo dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.
After running that command, the updates installed, some of which I thought never downloaded completely. I haven't had any further updates to test if this is a perminant fix but its still worth trying.
