imx53 quick start HDMI video garbled

Testing with the hwpack_linaro-lt-mx5_20111022-0_armel_supported.tar.gz rootfs : linaro-o-ubuntu-desktop-tar-20111023-2.tar.gz

Using the HDMI daughter board going to 1280x1024 LCD panel as well as a 1680x1050 panel (both support a variety of lower resolutions which are reported through EDID ), both panels fail to property display the output. In both cases the video is very badly garbled such that it's unusable.

The resolution is currently decided by the board specific data passed to the driver (1080P for HDMI on i.MX53 QuickStart), and if the resolution is not found in the EDID table, the nearest one will be picked. This, however, may not be an optimal way for most monitors. Will work on initializing to the preferred mode as in EDID table.

Eric, seems this patch is not part of http://git.linaro.org/gitweb?p=landing-teams/working/freescale/kernel.git;a=shortlog;h=refs/heads/lt-3.1-ubuntu. Were you able to test the kernel with this patch?

Otherwise we can easily build one test kernel just to see if the patch improves the issue.

I tested 11.11 RC with a 1080P monitor and it's working just fine. Will close the bug but please reopen it if it's still failing for you.
