have you used the pre-built image, hwpack/rootfs or only upgraded the packages?

latest results in LAVA are fine: https://validation.linaro.org/scheduler/job/116896/log_file

I have downloaded the hwpack and rootfs and used linaro-media-create to prepare a bootable sd-card. From there, I have only used apt-get upgrade's to install newer kernels.

Maybe it's a problem on the upgrade path. I'll try to download a hwpack + rootfs from 14.02 release and will upgrade to latest kernel to see if I can reproduce.

In the meantime, you can use the pre-built image:
http://snapshots.linaro.org/ubuntu/pre-built/arndale-octa/618

the image above has been verified. Could you confirm it works on your hardware?

I can confirm that the pre-built image in your link is working properly.
