Email setup gives "Cant safely connect to server" with snowball android JB

when trying to setup an email account this error message pops up

Cant safely connect to server.
(com.android.org.bouncycastle.jce.exception.ExtCertPathValidatorException: could not validate certificate)

I no longer get this error while setting up email account
Cant safely connect to server.

but the sync in email application never finishes.

While setting up email account, after entering email-id and password the application crashes when clicked on next button

With this build i am able to setup email account. For calendar and people application, email account needs to be synced which does not happens.

Email setup is happening but sync is not which is needed for people and calendar application.
