Bug Description

It isn't really a bug, but this is probably the most suitable place to report that Trisquel 4.0 and Ubuntu 10.04 users aren't able to use lightspark 0.4.5 RC properly.

The current PPA contains lightspark 0.4.5 RC for both versions (Lucid and Maverick), but the updated version of libxml++ is available for Maverick only.

I'm actually considering dropping the lucid PPA. I strongly suggest to use lightspark only on updated systems. To work properly lightspark also needs updated mesa.

The thing is that Ubuntu 10.04 is LTS. Many users will continue using it for a couple of years because the Ubuntu project won't end the support untill April 2013. I really don't think that lightspark should ignore them.

In addition to that, there is no Maverick-based Trisquel release and those who actually care about free systems won't be able to take an advantage of lightspark anymore.

The lightspark project has definetely no man power to maintain long term support, moreover as the project evolves many bugs in core libraries and infrastructure (firefox/libxml++/mesa) have been found and to avoid bad issues such as browser crashes the system _must_ be updated. I'd like to put an emphasys that those issues are not or very difficultly workaroundable by lightspark and so using an updated system is not an option.

I totally understand the lack of enough manpower, but isn't it possible to (simply?) build libxml++ and mesa for Lucid? I'm afraid that leaving Lucid isn't an option either for many (potential) users.

I'm afraid that i cannot take the responsibility to provide a component as critical as the mesa library myself. I've decided to drop lucid support with the upcoming 0.4.5 final release, sorry.

If anyone else wants to keep building lightspark and provide all the necessary dependencies for lucid he's, of course, welcome
