Bug Description

Hello, I am experiencing a problem with the Ligthning-Calendar since Ubuntu
12.04.
When clicking details of an appearing event - the detail window appears behind
the list of events and can't be moved to the front (therefore editing an event
is pretty tough).

This appears in "Gnome Classic" and "Unity" but not in "Gnome Classic(without
effects)".

(Thunderbird 12.0.1. and Lightning 1.4)
ubuntu 12.04

Thanks for your report! I was trying to duplicate your issue, and I was unable to even though we are using the same versions of ubuntu, Thunderbird, Lighnting.

Just to clarify, you go to edit an event in your calendar when you are on the calendar view, by clicking an event in the event list at the top of the screen.

The window that would allow you to edit the event appears behind the list of events. Does it appear ontop of for instance the calendar? And if you minimized the main thunderbird window does that allow you to do anything?

Also, did you try re-installing Lightning?

hello, the editing in calender view is ok.
i mean the pop-up reminder list of tasks & events, where you can click "details" to edit tasks or events (see the screenshot).

Hello,

still not resolved in 13.04. Looks like this will stay in future, too.
I'm leaving Unity. Ubuntu Gnome doesn't have this problem.

Any help?

Is it getting any better in 13.10?

Hello Mac-e-mac,
Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with Thunderbird and lightning.

You made this bug report in 2012 and there have been several versions of Ubuntu and Thunderbird since then.

Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the ticket?
Or, if it is still a problem, could you run the following (only once):
apport-collect 1003156

and upload the updated logs and and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.

Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu and Thunderbird better.

G

Hello,

unfortunately this problem still exists.
ubuntu 16.04 & Thunderbird 52.8.0 (64bit).

I can not run apport-collect temporarily.

OK, thanks for the update. I will change the status to "new" again. Next steps for me will be to try to replicate it myself and look for duplicates. I will keep you informed on my progress. Also, I may have questions on how to duplicate it - I hope you don't mind.
Take care and have a great day!

Hi,
I am having difficulty replicating the problem.
I am using Thunderbird 52.8.0 (64-bit) as well but I am in Ubuntu 18.04.

I created and saved an event and when the popup came up, I clicked "Details..."
The event edit window came up, to the left side of the popup. Both are clickable and I can move them and I can edit in the editing screen. See screen print.

Can you give me ideas as to what I might need to change about my system to match yours?

Thanks
G

Hi Maciej,
You say you "can not run apport-collect temporarily."
Are you able to run "apport-collect 1003156" now?
It would be helpful to have details of your system.
Thanks
