LightDM crashes/hangs during resume from suspend

Expected: To be able to resume from suspend and be able to reliably use my desktop.

What happened: Sometimes the UI is completely nonresponsive to keystrokes or mouse input after opening the lid of the computer. I am forced to cut the power.
