Bug Description
Today I installed 12.04 on a dual xeon pc with NVIDIA 230GTX video card. When I click Log Out, the screen goes black and the monitor goes to sleep. Then the computer beeps once every 20 seconds (or so). Only way to turn off PC was the power button.
tried sudo update-grub, and didnt fix problem. I installed the nvidia post-release update driver, and it didnt fix problem. When sceen goes black, CTRL ALT F1 does not exit X11.
I tried the gnome desktop with no effects. Didnt change the outcome.

One error in my bug description. My video card is a GeForce GTG430.
I removed the Nvidia drivers as suggested by canonical support, and then I could log out.
