Bug Description

Hello,

There are 2 little bugs in Ambiance theme in Ubuntu Precise current beta version with all updates :

- Context menus : the background is white (gray) and not black (see first screenshot)

- Notifications : now it seems that Unity Dash / launcher and notification bubbles will adapt their color to the background desktop choosen.

For the dash and launcher, it's OK. But for the notifications... hum, this is not very nice.

Here an example with the blue color I get for notifications, it's too much. Dark was perfect, in coherence with the whole theme.

At least, could we have an option to choose please ?

Thanks !

Thanks for your bug report. The first (bright menus) is a intended change, the idea is: dark bars or sources = dark menus, bright sources = bright menus. And the second is a known bug in notify-osd, that blue is not intended ;-)

Changed in light-themes:

Please fix this by revert back the black menus on Ambiance and fix Radiance too.

Please consider that by changing the menu to white most of the heavily used icon themes (like Faience, Faenza, Awoken, etc) with monochrome items won't work at all, resulting in a total confusion.

I agree with last comment, I'd prefer a black background also for the
context menu, it's more consistant and coherent with the theme, all
menus and sub-menus from the panel are also black...

At least, like many other things in Unity, an option to configure it on
dconf (which would then be available in Ubuntu Tweak or MyUnity) : Unity
and Gnome 3 are excellent, but we lost the ability we had in Gnome 2 to
configure and personalize theme for each detail...

I also prefer the dark context menus...

Hello,

Ambiance has just been updated in Ubuntu Quantal alpha, with some modifications :

- Now on desktop, in Nautilus, Gwibber, Marlin, Gnote, Rhythmbox, which have a light background, context menu became dark again (like other menus), I like that :)

But in Firefox, Thunderbird, LibreOffice, Gpodder, Shutter, context menu is still white : bug, problem with non-GTK programs (I don't know if the 2 last are or not), temporary problem before next update or lack of coherence ?

Imho the best would be to have all (both global and context menus) with dark background...
