Bug Description

The 1px border around the window decoration is now really dark, in maverick was showing a nice grey gradient...

this was introduced as an attempt to fix https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/light-themes/+bug/740579

maybe we should explore a solution in the middle

Otto: see screenshot by Cimi. Do you have a preferred half-way suggest between the two border colour extremes (this should go away completely for Ubuntu 11.10 when 0px works everywhere).

can't wait for 11.10... :)

I agree with Cimi, border is too dark.
Unfortunately reverting to old gradient will brake ubiquity, gnome terminal and other apps that use the Ambiance dark theme.

Is it possible to split Ambiance (default color scheme and the dark one) into 2 themes and define "somewhere" to use a specific theme for app (and its corresponding metacity theme)?

Is this not still broken in Oneiric?

Andrea Cimitan (cimi) wrote :

Still broken but depends on compiz (with metacity i fine in oneiric)
