Looking at your screen shoot, im assuming that your locale is messing this up. Its see its in Chinese and translating all data to Chinese. To test if this is the case you could possibly search for "文本" to see if it pulls up gedit.

If so then this bug will most likely be in libunity, though this could also be by design. If your goal is to search English with a CJK locale then this could be a problem. As far as I know it will translate all the information on each application to your locale. You could also try to change your locale to English and search for gedit, which should work as well.

I suppose the overall problem is, right now if I search for "文本" in the dash with an English locale, I don't expect it to find gedit. As this would mean every single item in the dash wil have to get translated for all possible languages to match any possible language used. So I would think this is by design...if you're using a chinese locale search in chinese :), as it works! If not then that is where the bug really is! All IMs should be working with the dash!

I used "文本", but it didn't work either (FYI, I do get results sometimes, I don't have a clue why), so I believe this is a bug, at least the search algorithm isn't efficient enough.
