Bug Description
I subscribed to a service which supports libravatar (and not gravatar): liberapay.
I decided to try out libravatar therefore I created a new account. I uploaded an image and when setting up an email, it proposed me to import my gravatar profile image, which I refused.
Yet the liberapay service was showing my old gravatar image even though it never was even once in my libravatar list! In the end, I had to log-in to gravatar and change the image there to get my new image appear.

Libravatar offers sites using it two choices:
1. Use Libravatar images only.
2. Use Libravatar images when they exist, otherwise automatictlly fallback to Gravatar.
You can see the details of the API at https:/ /wiki.libravata r.org/api/.
So as a user, if you don't want your Gravatar image to show up, you can do one of three things:
1. Upload an image to Libravatar and wait a few minutes for it to show up on all of the mirrors. It will then take precedence over your Gravatar image.
2. Remove your Gravatar image or use a different email address on Libravatar for which you have no Gravatar image.
3. Ask the site to use SHA-256 hashes for their images which automatically disables the Gravatar fallback.
