Bug Description

I get no notifications from telegram on my BQ Aquaris 4.5.
Not with the shipped version of telegram nor with the updated one.

my steps:
- logged in to telegram
- telegram asks me if i want to get notifications and to set up my ubuntu one account.
- i choose to login with my ubuntu one account
- telegram forwards me to my account settings. I log in to my ubuntu one account.
- switch back to telegram
- in the system settings "notification" tab i check both telegram entrys.

Under the "acces to account" line in the "ubuntu one" account settings, i get no apps listed.
Reseting my phone to factory defaults, leads to the same problem.

Hello. Thank you for reporting your issue.

Please note that Telegram would not show up under "acess to account", because the U1 account on the phone is actually used through the push client, not directly. Meaning, once you have that account set-up, and we request push client policy group, Telegram should be able to make use of push.

Couple questions:
1. Does the issue still hold? We had push outage for Telegram specifically, which has been addressed last evening and has been working correctly since.
2. Are you on mobile or wifi? Could you also verify on wifi?
3. Just in case, have you tried rebooting the phone? (no, this should not be necessary)
4. Do you know that notifications will only show up if Telegram is not in foreground/focused or the phone is screen locked?

Thanks.

Hi,

1. Yes. I have this issue from the first moment on.

2. I have this problem mobile and using wifi. I did test it extensivly (various wifi's).

3. Tried various things. rebooting, reseting to factory default.

4. Yes i know this.
When I have telegram in the forground using it, I get a little red number on telegrams launcher icon. Thats all.
I also deleted all other telegram sessions(ipad, desktop).

The first time i logged in to ubuntu one and switched back to telegram. Telegram crashed.
Second time after factory reset, it diddnt crash. Still the same problem

Thanks.

The crash is probably related to this bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/libqtelegram/+bug/1437246
so let's track this issue there. If it crashes again, please do let me know on Telegram @karniDev -- you can use web.telegram.org if our client fails.

Please allow me to ask - are you a technical user? Have you ever used Developer mode on the phone / have you ever ran adb shell? If yes, we might be able to have a look at some logs together.

Thank you for your patience and feedback on this.

No I'm not a technical user. Never activated developer mode, not used adb shell.
I'll do what helps to track this bug down. Just tell me what to do and I'll provide logs.
