Bug Description

I have made a bookmark to a server, selecting ssh as protocol. Selected "save password forever". I get connected to the server. But if I unmount and try to click the bookmark either from the launcher or Nautilus, it fails.

I get no error-message when trying the bookmark from the launcher, only the splash-screen. I can see on the network-switch that I there is some traffic before the splash-screen disappears.

Not sure if it's a duplicate of this: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/496395

I've installed from ubuntu-10.04-beta1-alternate-i386.iso and the error was also the case on the Alpha3-version.

Actually, don't think it's the bookmark-function that makes the difference, but the "save password forever". I'll test some more today.

Ok, done some more testing and figured there are two bugs. First one is a duplicate of #496395: https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/496395 The launcher doesn't give me a password-dialog.

The second bug appears when I try to "save password forever" from Nautilus. Doesn't matter if the login is bookmarked or not. Next time I try same server&user I get an error. If I choose "forget password immediately" it works nice.

If I've saved a password, the workaround is to open "Password and encryption keys" and delete the saved password.

Should I report the second one under UNR instead of under the launcher?

Anyone need more info on this one? I'll be happy to help. Can also test newer versions if you believe this bug is fixed in a daily build...

Thanks for your bug report and help to make ubuntu better.

After some investigation, I saw that g_file_mount_enclosing_volume_finish failed in on_places_mount launcher/launcher-folder.c from liblauncher with "Password dialog cancelled". I guess the cancel comes fom the layout "Opening…" appearing as it couldn't lock the entry text (it doesn't happen with ssh key). It's quite late to introduce such changes to UNE for lucid, but can be reinvastigated later. The only solution from now is to either use ssh key, or mount it from nautilus (save password for this session).
