Bug Description

The garbage applet crashes in 3 cases:

1) When it's right clicked;
2) When somethings goes into the empty trash;
3) When the trash is emptied.

Of course, it comes back with a left click.

I use the latest dev version 0.3.9.1. I usually download the Karmic tar.gz package from the Launchpad dev page and compile it in Debian Squeeze. So, I don't know if the same bug exists in Karmic. Waiting for confirmation.

Does this occur with any other applets?

What icon theme are you currently using?

The version of Vala that you have installed may be useful, as well.

Excuse me for my incomplete bug report. I complete it here:

1) My window manager is Compiz 0.8.4.

2) My video card is GeForce 9500 GT with the latest nVidia driver.

3) This behavior happens only with the garbage applet. There's no problem with other applets.

4) I use my customized Icon theme, especially, for the trash.

5) The version of Vala I use is 0.7.8-2 (default in Debian Squeeze).

6) I've compiled libdesktop-agnostic packages from the source tarball on the AWN dev page in Launchpad.

Does your customized icon theme have the following named icons in it:

* user-trash
* user-trash-full

Yes it has. In fact, a few minutes ago, I changed the icon theme to different standard ones. The behavior of Garbage applet was the same with all of them.

BTW, the old Trasher applet, which is unmaintained now, didn't have this problem.

Could you please do the following:

1. close Awn
2. run avant-window-navigator in a terminal
3. make Garbage crash
4. copy and paste the terminal output into a text file
5. attach the text file to this bug

OK, could you do the same thing, *except* replace 2. with the following:

2a. make sure you have gdb installed
2b. run the following command in a terminal: AWN_APPLET_GDB=1 avant-window-navigator

It looks to be a problem with the gnome-vfs module. I'll take a look at this soon.
