Bug Description

Description: Ubuntu oneiric (development branch)
Release: 11.10

network-manager:
  Instalado: 0.9.1.90-0ubuntu2
  Candidato: 0.9.1.90-0ubuntu2
  Tabela de versão:

        500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric/main amd64 Packages

After an (update-manager) upgrade, nm-applet stopped showing any network available, I am just able to connect since i have already a configured connection. (I am connected but it still not showing any connection)

(When clicking on icon, it only shows :

Which I can confirm.

This seems to have been introduced with the latest libdbusmenu updates. Downgrading to version 0.4.93-0ubuntu1 made it work again.

Hernando,

I do not believe this is the same bug because:
1. I see no difference if I create a new user,
2. My issue is intermittent, the other reported issue seems to happen every time.

Also another thing to note: the eth0 connection is intermittent but the VPN submenu is NEVER available it would seem.

Kevin, can you try to downgrade libdbusmenu? You can get the packages I used here: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/oneiric/+source/libdbusmenu/0.4.93-0ubuntu1 (download the i386 or amd64 packages + the 'all' packages in 'i386').

If that doesn't work for you, then we can of course un-dupe your bug report.

I think the missing VPN submenu is a separate issue and I will raise it as a new bug.

I have this issue as well with nm-applet. Connections set to connect automatically work, the icon displays correctly (wireless vs wired) however there is no interface information (wireless networks & disconnect as well as wired interfaces and disconnect).

All I see across a few reboots is:

Enable Networking (checked)
Enable Wireless (checked)
Connection Information (greyed out)
Edit Connections...

The workaround for me when networks or interfaces are not connecting was to use the "Edit Connections..." and set that network or interface to connect automatically.

Changed in libdbusmenu (Ubuntu Oneiric):
importance: High → Critical

Hi *, slightly off-topic, but I want to test the fix and do not really figured out how. I installed libdbusmenu with bazaar, but make does not compile. There are errors that I don't understand.
So if I want to test it on my machine before it gets here through the official Ubuntu update, what do I have to do. Download which source package? Then ./configure, make, checkinstall? Is that the way to go?
Thanks in advance for your feedback.
