Bug Description

Binary package hint: shotwell

Steps:
1. Choose File -> Import from Folder
2. Choose a Folder and Click Ok
3. In the resulting Import to Library prompt, click Create Links

Result:
The images are imported, but the Directory browser does not go away and the controls seem insensitive. You can click the close button, but it is ineffective. This is because there is a message box behind the directory picker. Finding and dismissing the message box makes the directory picker sensitive, but clicking cancel causes the directory picker to simply immediately reappear.

Expected:
1. The directory picker is dismissed when "Create Links" is clicked

Thanks for the bug report. I can reproduce this easily.

It's too bad we didn't notice this bug last week, when we fixed various bugs and released Shotwell 0.7.2. The moral of the story is that we need to test Shotwell on Unity before each release (we haven't been). This seems like a showstopper on Unity, so I think we need to fix this soon.

I've created a ticket upstream at http://trac.yorba.org/ticket/2549 .

Raising the bug priority for Unity. Probably an issue with Mutter.

Potentially caused by an issue with appmenu-gtk or dbusmenu. Adding it to the affected project list for Cody to investigate further.

Sounds like it's deeper in dbusmenu, and in the way dbus messages are not processed because of the extra dialog blocking the main loop to which the proxies are attached.

Unity doesn't seem to be the main cause of the issue. Putting the investigations on hold on this front for now.
