Bug Description

With the removal of most couchdb databases from Ubuntu One, it no longer makes sense to keep desktopcouch/couchdb function in Lernid. See https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-desktop/2011-November/003474.html .

Unfortunately, desktopcouch has been the source of many lernid bugs.

I haven't gone deep enough in the code to know what we use desktop couch for, and if we want to remove it what kind of alternatives can we use?

coalwater: We use it to save the Lernid configuration (window sizes, irc login, etc., in the future the last classroom chosen). The idea has been that it would be saved to the cloud and you would use the same configuration automatically when you started Lernid from a different computer if you were signed into Ubuntu One in both places.

I don't know of any other cloud services that support couchdb.
