Bug Description

(environment: Karmic, running with a non-system Python 2.4 with nothing in site-packages)

I ran bin/test, and it hung. It hangs in usage.txt. It appears to be in line 124 (trunk), " >>> smtpd.connect('localhost', 9025)".

I verified that the test passes (quickly) in Py 2.5 on the same machine.

Maybe it is not worth worrying about the 2.4 problem, at least from Launchpad's perspective.

I want to add support for Python 3, so it makes no sense to support any Python 2 < 2.6. See LP: #1096475
