Bug Description
Several Launchpad sites only support IPv4. This prevents me for instance from using ppa.launchpad.net on a IPv6 only host:
Reading package lists... Done
W: Failed to fetch http://
W: Failed to fetch http://
W: Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

Is there a workaround? Like an alternative domain we could use (like for example ipv6.archive.

Probably not, because the machine(s) in question do not have IPv6 connectivity, or it has been obscured.
Since ppa.launchpad.net is not a 'dumb' fileserver with a bunch of static content, there's no use in mirroring it on an IPv6 capable host.
So we're out of luck, until Ubuntu fixes their network.

Hello,
IPv6 has now been added to other official Canonical resources including archive.ubuntu.com and security.
It appears that these are hosted on or very close to the same network as launchpad -- can this be raised for some discussion? Ubuntu/Canonical made great progress on v6 in the last 18 months, it would be great to carry some momentum from it.

Any News like adding an IPV6 address to launchpad.net hosts?

Any News? apport-collect and ubuntu-bug and so on won't work on my ipv6 only host.
At present there isn't support for IPV6 but we are looking to change this in the future.
