Bug Description
Here's an example. This ticket on launchpad: https:/
(See https:/
The issue is that I can't manually set launchpad's knowledge of that Red Hat Bugzilla bug to show that the latter is closed without choosing "None, the status of the bug is updated manually.". I would rather leave the "remote watch" set to "Red Hat Bugzilla #773443", so that (a) there is a hyperlink to it in an unambiguous, machine-parseable place, and (b) if https:/
So I would like to either have the remote watch set to Red Hat Bugzilla but be able to override the setting to set it to "closed", or I would like to be able to set the remote watch to "None" but put a link to Red Hat Bugzilla in an unambiguous, machine-parseable place. I guess separating the linkage from the remote-watch functionality to some degree.
The former sounds better.
Proposal 1: humans can override the settings on Remote Watch things, and if they do then the Remote Watch stops overwriting whatever they touched (whatever the human touches gets a magic "robots can't change this" flag, I guess).
Proposal 2: if the remote watch is broken/disabled, as the Red Hat Bugzilla currently is, then humans can edit the settings just as if there wasn't a remote watch.
Proposal 2 sounds easier to me and it makes sense. If the remote watch is disabled, might as well treat it as non-existence with regard to whether humans can edit the values.

lifeless mentioned on IRC that launchpad would detect hyperlinks to bug trackers added as comments. I decided to try that out by setting the Red Hat Bugzilla entry on https:/ /bugs.launchpad .net/fedora/ +bug/915018 to "No Remote Watch -- manual", setting the Status to "invalid" (which is the correct final status of the Fedora issue as per Red Hat Bugzilla), and then mentioning the link to it in a comment:
https:/ /bugs.launchpad .net/fedora/ +bug/915018/ comments/ 13
So far, launchpad hasn't updated the "Fedora" row in the table of "Affects" projects and distros.
