Bug Description

Is the bounty app dead? Anybody still working on it?

Some proper bounty system management tool (http://nat.org/2005/january/#bountysystem) is sorely needed and launchpad seems like the natural candidate. But the state of affairs is more than disappointing. launchpad misses even the most basic features as evidenced by http://tinyurl.com/2jareg.

That is very, very sad indeed. I hope it gets picked up again in the future soonish.

What if we started a bounty on this feature to fund development? I'm serious. I'd chip in right now.

You're welcome to do that, but Canonical doesn't intend having a bounty system in Launchpad itself.

If one were developed that fits in tastefully, and the developer promises to keep it maintained and free of security holes and so forth, we would probably accept the patches to the system to have it.

After doing some research, it turns out it's not necessary. We can simply use http://www.cofundos.org/ for this, and link to and from bugs for projects hosted over there. I'll be doing this (creating COfundOS projects) for Launchpad bugs that could be fixed in this manner, and hopefully others will join me. This is essentially "Solution #4: Just link to a cofundos project in your post" over at http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/idea/1295.
