Bug Description
Earlier today I was assigned several private bugs by someone else. I did not receive any email for these bugs, and it was only because I was checking my launchpad profile that I realized I had these to work on. The expectation from users (and my team) is that if you are assigned a bug, you will be notified of the assignment via email whether you're subscribed to that bug or not.

Certainly, this makes sense. We're not currently working on our notifications, but if you wanted to submit a patch we'd be happy to mentor you.
