This happened because you're subscribed directly to the bug an are also subscribed to the mailing list of a team that is subscribed to the bug. Launchpad didn't send duplicate notifications to you, it sent one notification to you and one to the mailing list.
Whilst we can usually correctly handle situations where you have two or more subscriptions to a bug (one direct, one via a team, etc.), teams with contact addresses are a problem, particularly when the contact address is a mailing list.
I'm marking this as Triaged, since it's genuinely a problem, but I don't think this is something we'll be able to tackle any time soon.
