Bug Description

For example if i try to copy the pacakge nx-x11 that has been build on karmic, and copied in lucid and maverick.

If i try to copy the package from maverick to natty i get the following error:

The following source cannot be copied:

nx-x11 1:3.3.0-6-0ubuntu3~karmic1 in natty (binaries conflicting with the existing ones)

But if i take it from karmic it works.

since this is the same package it should be possible to copy it from any version.

Was anything building at the time you tried to copy?

No there wasn't anything building.

but maybe some packages were pending to be published.

I can reproduce the problem with this package in revolution-linux ppa, if i take the maverick or natty package and try to copy it in oneiric i have the same error

I tried to reproduce the issue in my own ppa but it seams to work correctly.

Ok this is because the first copy was done with partially built binaries and is a long-standing problem. Just hunting for the dupe now ...

To clarify, karmic had lpia as an architecture and there's a bug in the code that is triggered when copying the package in maverick which did not have lpia.

Assuming Julian couldn't find the dupe so triaging this one (I couldn't either, but I am not entirely sure what to look for). If dupe is uncovered, we can easily fix that later. Julian, are there any work-arounds we can offer (like rebuilding)?

The work around is to do what he already did :)
