Launchpad doesn't understand CUPS bugtracker URLs

I just reported this bug
 https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gs-esp/+bug/76749
upstream and the upstream bug tracker recorded it as
 http://www.cups.org/espgs/str.php?L2199+P0+S-2+C0+I0+E0+Q

I wanted to add a bug watch using
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gs-esp/+bug/76749/+add-affected-product
but Malone did not understand my bug URL. I also tried
 http://www.cups.org/espgs/str.php?L2199
and Malone didn't understand that either.

It said "Launchpad doesn't know what kind of bug tracker this URL is pointing at."

It should tell me what to do next: should I give up ? File a bug against Malone (let's have a link) ? Submit a comment to the bug report containing the URL ? etc.

Hello Ian,

A better bugtracker registration workflow is bug 4592.

Let's keep this bug open to track the lack of support for the CUPS bugtracker.

I just ran into this today and with cupsys have approximately 166 open bug reports it would be useful to be able to add upstream watches.
