Bug Description
While glancing at bug #1, I am offered the option to approve tasks for retired distro series like Edgy, Feisty, Intrepid...
I shouldn't be able to approve a task for an retired series.

Agreed; at the time a distro series becomes retired, any unapproved tasks on all bugs in that distro should be declined.
Note that this operation could probably be done fairly easy with a short launchpadlib script.
