Bug Description

Currently, the Timeline graphic (eg. on https://launchpad.net/gwibber/+series) don't really convey any additional information compared to a sorted textual list, and the vertical connection means nothing. It would be very nice if this could instead show actual information about the relationships between the different series and milestones.

For instance, I've attached an example (made in GIMP) of a graph for a project where each new major release comes out of the trunk series, with a stable release series for post-release updates coming off for each. The shape is the most important, with color-coding by status/type as a further wishlist item.

The proposal looks familiar. We rejected such an implementation because Launchpad does not have the information to track this. We might be able to do this by changing the data Launchpad collects, but it probably wont be possible to construct historic data.

summary: - Timeline isn't very useful/informative
+ Timeline could illustrate series/branch status
Changed in launchpad-registry:

importance: Undecided → Low
