2006-10-18 08:34:33 Matthew Paul Thomas description When filing a bug in Ubuntu, I noticed that I got the error message "Please fix the problems below and try again."--WITHOUT any problem listed below! This is extremely confusing and should be fixed ASAP. This seems to occur when filing a bug against Ubuntu (not checked other projects) and when the "In what package did you find this bug?" text field is filled, DESPITE my having selected "I don't know". To reproduce, create a new bug in Ubuntu with the aforementioned text field filled with some text, but select the "I don't know" option, then try to submit the bug. Workaround: make sure the text filed is empty AND the "I don't know" option is selected before submitting the bug. Expected behavior: 1) ANY time an error occurs, you MUST tell me what is broken! 2) If the "I don't know" option is selected, the aforementioned text field should be ignored, as it has not been selected. 1. Go to <https://staging.launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+filebug>. 2. In the package field, enter a package name that doesn't exist. 3. Click "I don't know". 4. Enter dummy text in the Summary and description fields. 5. Click "Submit Bug Report". What happens: The page returns with an error "Please fix the problems below and try again", but there are no problems listed below. What should happen: The page contains a useful error message. Such a message appears when the radio button next to the package field was selected, but not when "I don't know" was selected. This is the sequel to bug 41399.
