2010-09-23 17:03:54 Paul Sladen description When doing an advanced search, the URL return is very, very long and requires manual stripping before it can be easily and succinctly inserted into emails or webpages. For instance, I wish to forward a Greek reader a list of all Greek-related bug reports in the Ubuntu Font Family. The search criteria here is simply: tag=uff-greek However, the URL returned by Launchpad for this search is (no kidding): https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-font-family/+bugs?field.searchtext=&orderby=-importance&search=Search&field.status%3Alist=NEW&field.status%3Alist=INCOMPLETE_WITH_RESPONSE&field.status%3Alist=INCOMPLETE_WITHOUT_RESPONSE&field.status%3Alist=OPINION&field.status%3Alist=INVALID&field.status%3Alist=WONTFIX&field.status%3Alist=EXPIRED&field.status%3Alist=CONFIRMED&field.status%3Alist=TRIAGED&field.status%3Alist=INPROGRESS&field.status%3Alist=FIXCOMMITTED&field.status%3Alist=FIXRELEASED&assignee_option=any&field.assignee=&field.bug_reporter=&field.bug_supervisor=&field.bug_commenter=&field.subscriber=&field.tag=uff-greek&field.tags_combinator=ANY&field.has_cve.used=&field.omit_dupes.used=&field.omit_dupes=on&field.affects_me.used=&field.has_patch.used=&field.has_branches.used=&field.has_branches=on&field.has_no_branches.used=&field.has_no_branches=on Most of these fields are empty and have no binding on the search results. A number of them could be simplified to simply field.status=ALL, but "ALL" should be ideally be taken as the empty default anyway (when I'm searching with advanced search I really want to be able to search the whole-set, rather than a portion of it). In an ideal world, the above URL would be returned as simply: http://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-font-family/+bugs?field.tag=uff-greek (which at the moment will miss out those bugs that have been closed in some manner).
