Bug Description

affects launchpad-code

Not entirely sure what Launchpad subproject this bug belongs to; my
apologies if it should actually be in launchpad-registry.

I am unable to register a CVS imported branch using the new "Configure
project branch" form that is linked to from the right hand side box of
new projects.

Trying to register the following CVS URL for flickrfs
(https://edge.launchpad.net/flickrfs/trunk/+setbranch):

:pserver:<email address hidden>:/cvsroot/flickrfs

with module "flickrfs", Launchpad complains that

":pserver:<email address hidden>:/cvsroot/flickrfs" is not a
valid URI

A workaround is to manually create the import by going to https://code.launchpad.net/projectname/+new-import and then adding the created bzr branch to the project. See https://answers.launchpad.net/launchpad/+question/221251.

Marking low because this can be worked around by creating the import branch first.

Changed in launchpad-code:
status: New → Triaged
importance: Undecided → Low

The CVS importing itself works, so this seems to be just a UI bug. The UI for manually creating an imported branch appears similar to the "configure branch" UI, except that the manual UI actually works and also is more user-friendly (for instance, it gives an example URI for CVS imports, with the :pserver: thing).

Could the broken UI simply be removed and replaced with the working one?
