Unsubscribing from a duplicated bug does not unsubscribe user

Bug #53484 reported by Carthik Sharma
2
Affects Status Importance Assigned to Milestone
Launchpad itself
New
Undecided
Unassigned

Bug Description

1) Report a bug, Bug A
2) Bug A gets marked as a duplicate of Bug B
3) Unsubscribe from Bug A
4) Continue receiving messages from launchpad whenever Bug B is updated.

The users can't seem to be able to unsubscribe from Bug B.

See
https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/47848/comments/19

and

for the original complaints regarding this.

In particular, the user is marked as "Also Notified" on the parent bug. The subscribe/unsubscribe links have no effect on this status - I've tried re-subscribing and unsubscribing to it with no luck.

Further to the above - I found that I had been resubscribed to the original bug ("Bug A") when I looked at it again (I have been receiving the 47848+Dupes thread). I'm hoping that unsubscribing the second time from Bug A will halt notifications - I am no longer in the Bug B "Also Notified" list.

I'd modify the action path to:

1) Report a bug, Bug A
2) Unsubscribe from Bug A
3) Bug A gets marked as a duplicate of Bug B
4) Unsubscribe from Bug B
5) Continue receiving messages from launchpad whenever Bug B is updated.
