Bug Description
When, as a first-time visitor, I come to the Launchpad home page, I see a lot of information about what Launchpad does and even some links to blog posts about Launchpad.
While there is a general search box and a list of featured projects, there isn't anything to guide me towards finding the specific project I want to work on. Launchpad can be quite intimidating, so I think we can afford to offer a little hand-holding to help inexperienced users towards the project they're interested in.
GitHub and Sourceforge both make their home page search box far more prominent than ours. Admittedly, GitHub's doesn't offer project search, as such.
I think we could do something visually similar to help guide new users towards the search box and explicitly state that you can find projects by searching. It may seem obvious to us but this came up as a problem for new users looking to get involved in projects a number of times in the UDS-L interviews.

I don't think I'm the right person to triage this; however it is my job, since it is in Foundations and there's no better team. Therefore, I'm triaging this low, but largely because it is not in my domain. I'm very happy for someone else to claim it, escalate it, and tell me that their team will accept bugs like this in the future.
