Bug Description
When I report a bug, Launchpad instantly sends me e-mail notifying me that I did just that. And when I report a bug via ubuntu-bug, I get another e-mail for the attachment.
What is the purpose of this? Why can't I turn it off?

Not sure if your questions were rhetorical or not, but just in case they were not:
1) The purpose of this email is to have a record of all bug activity in email. Some people do like having this -- for searching, having archives of bugs, etc. from their mail client.
2) You can't turn it off because we haven't done the work to make bug mail notifications configurable.
I agree that you should be able to turn off notices of your own activity. I think this should be a single "turn off notices of things I say or do" (yes, I know that isn't a good sentence for the actual option, but you get the idea ;)). With that in mind, I think bug 504663 is a duplicate of this one.
