Method of changing a bug's status is not intuitive

For users who are new to Launchpad, the design for how to change the status of a bug is not very intuitive - I had to ask someone else how to change the status of a bug that I had previously submitted. The interface for this needs to be more intuitive; in its current state, it is off-putting to people who aren't familiar with Launchpad but want to help out with bug triage, reporting bugs, etc.

For those that are new to launchpad a lot of things are not intuitive, I however think the little pen icon is a pretty good visual queue as to how you would modify the status.

I will second this. I will also add that the launchpad site needs another redesign. It's just all over the place, as I see it. It is more than intimidating to a newcomer like myself.

I think the problem here is that the pencil icon itself doesn't look enough like a pencil - I certainly didn't know it was a pencil until someone mentioned it to me. I thought it was a slanted exclamation mark.
