See for example bug 130653, where (with perfect irony) launchpad parses the URL http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screwdriver_(cocktail) is parsed as http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screwdriver_(cocktail which is wrong. Please check your URL validation/parsing.
