Let's start by renaming the current 'title' implementation to 'displayname', then submit a DB patch creating Archive.title column and adjusting Archive activation, edit and admin forms to work with it. |

IArchive, specially PPAs, should allow users to define a 'displayname', which will be used as a reference to that context in the web UI.
This way we expect to reduce the user-pressure for modifying the PPA 'name' and continue to use 'name' for the PPA page and repository URL and 'title' (mechanical dependency on 'name') for signing-key UID.
The PPA 'displayname' should use inline-edit mechanism for making it as easy as possible for users to edit it, but in order to facilitate the migration the 'displayname' content will fallback to 'title' while it's not defined by the users.
The title for named-ppas defined in bug #334883 is unambiguous enough to continue to be used as the signing-key UID. |
